Thirty minutes at low altitude over the hills of the Chianti Pisano — a quieter, less-visited stretch of Tuscany west of Florence. From above, you'll see the Val d'Era unfurl below, the natural amphitheatre of the Teatro del Silenzio near Lajatico, the distinctive skyline of Volterra on its ridge, and the medieval towers of San Gimignano rising from the horizon. Then the helicopter descends into a Tuscan winery — landing on the estate for a guided tour of the production and a proper tasting of wines made right there.
It is, plainly, an extraordinary experience — the kind that combines a completely inaccessible point of view with the simple, grounded pleasure of a glass of good wine in the place it was made.
