Wood inlay workshop in Anghiari

€ 180.00 per person
Anghiari is a medieval hilltop village 28 km from Arezzo, famous for two things: the battle of 1440 that Leonardo tried — and failed — to immortalise, and a living tradition of wood craftsmanship that has survived where many others have not. At its Bottega Scuola works a Master Craftsman recognised by the Italian Ministry for Made in Italy: he has been practising marquetry — the art of creating images by inserting fragments of different woods, selected for colour and grain — for decades.
The workshop runs for 3 hours in two parts. First, the theory: history of the technique, tools, types of wood, reading a design. Then the practice: you create a wood inlay piece inspired by the Battle of Anghiari — the same subject Leonardo tried to paint — using the same tools and materials as the master. You take the finished piece home. It is one of a kind, made by you, in one of the most authentic settings in the province of Arezzo.
Perfect for craft enthusiasts, woodworking lovers, cultural travellers, and anyone who wants to touch a Renaissance technique with their own hands.
